I read the book" The Great Gatsby" from Scott Fitzgerald. I read over 100 pages and my favorite quote until now is:
"We are always the first ones to leave." " So are we."
It's my favorite one because it shows the isolation between the people and the feeling to be alone and different.

The second book I read is "The Great Gatsby" written by Scott Fitzgerald. I got this book from my Host mom who recommend me that book really high. That's the reason why I read this book. Then she was so enthusiastic about it and so I decided to read this book.
"The Great Gatsby" is about the 1920's. the Jazz age and it portrayals the romance, love and success of a young man. I just read how the young man moved to the big city and how he tries to be successful. He meets new people and I could read how he is handling all the different people which are really different from him. He finds out their secrets and history and has to handle with it.

Rating: 4
The book " The color Purple" was a fascinating book with a whole new side of the world. This book shows the reality for black people, specially for woman's. The book has topics about you normally wouldn't think about. But this book makes you thinking. It makes you sad and angry on the same time. while reading this book, you want to go in the story and help the people and just change the story.i think the book is important to read then it opens your eyes to the reality and you are not anymore in your dreamworld. The only think I didn't like was that I had sometimes problems to understand what they are saying because they don't use the normal American English. They speak a special dialect what sometimes is hard to understand.

Reaction:
I don't think that I want to read the same books like my classmates did. Their books all sound kind of boring and they don't interested me. They also didn't gave high ratings. I just look through the list and try to find something else what interested me.

I changed my book "On Beauty" to "The Color Purple", because I had a lot of problems to find the book "On Beauty". I chose "The Color Purple" because I read really good critics about the movie and so I decided to read teh book and to become a better understanding of African Americans.
The book gives me the shocked feeling. Celie, the African American woman who tells the story, speaks about her own raped so freely and open. It makes you really sad how hopeless she thinks and speaks about her. Just the few first pages shows how the "family" works and how she wants to help her younger sister. So that she doesn't have the same future. The beginning of the books is about how Celie was raped by her stepdad, how she got children and how her Dad sold her children. It shows that she is at home and takes care of her younger siblings and her mother who is really sick. I could read how she thinks about teh marriage to an old guy, that she can't go to school anymore but she wants to learn so bad new things. How I said, just the first few pages made me sad and gave me a good looking about her life.

Dear God,
I am fourteen years old. I am, no I have always been a good girl. Maybe you can give me a sign letting me know what is happening to me.

That sentences is the first sentences of the book and I think it's really important. It shows the desperation of the girl and how sad she is. It shows that she really doesn't know what happened to her and why. It also makes the readers sad because she is only fourteen years old and speaks like she so old and that she saw a lot with her only fourteen years of age. But she still believes in God and that makes me so respectful. Then after few pages the reader knows a lot and it's just terrible. But whatever happened, God is still for her there.

January 14, 2011. My favorite books:

-The Kite Runner
-The Notebook
- God comes to Afghanistan, only to cry.

My favorite books are books which are based on the reality, like the Kite Runner. It's about the life story of a boy in Afghanistan. Yo can feel all the emotional feelings and you can empathize this story very well.

Reading Assignment:

The book what I want to read is " On Beauty" from Zadie Smith. This book is about two different mixed race families in the U.S who are between liberal and conservative values.
For me is this book very interesting to read about my sight point and to read about a completely different political sight point. I am interested to learn the different and maybe to understand their point.
